The specialisation includes, inter alia, the production of industrial machines and special-purpose machines (e.g. cooling appliances, lifting equipment, machines used in the processing industry, textile and clothing industry) and the production of machines relating to the Internet of Things.

Modern fashion and design

The specialisation includes  the design and production of clothes, footwear, textiles (including technical and textronic fabrics) and leather (or necessary components), the production of shoe ornaments and the production of jewellery.  Examples of products from the specialisation include clothing, leather and textile products, shoes, bags and jewellery products.

ICT solutions and electronics

The specialisation includes, the development of computer software for various industries and the production of electronics (e.g. with the use of the Internet of Things). 

Examples of products from the specialisation include applications for mobile devices, websites, training-related services (the service dimension) as well as printed circuits, measuring instruments, consumer electronics and wearables (the product dimension).

Sustainable food processing

The specialisation includes, food production, technologies and equipment used in the food processing industry, laboratory tests of product ingredients and research on the development and production of smart food. The products from the specialisation include a wide range of items, specifically food products such as processed meat, fish and fruit products as well as mealy and confectionary products, and drinks.

Innovative plastics

The specialization includes the processing of new or waste raw materials for the production of plastics, technologies, machines and equipment for the processing of plastics, production of packaging, industrial design services, processing and production of rubber and recycling. Examples of products from the specialisation include packaging (e.g. to be used in the food industry), foil and film, rubber products, plastic products for the construction industry, windows, door and window frames.

Business services centers


As for the BSC sector, Warsaw counts 167 BSCs with a combined employment of around 42.600. This equates to 17% of Poland’s total BSC employment and leads to an average headcount of 255 employees per BSC. In terms of industry sector, Warsaw-based BSCs tend to follow the national pattern where parent companies are predominantly IT or active in commercial and professional services. Yet the city has a pronounced and an increasing share of BSCs stemming from the Banking, Financial and Insurance sector. Recent BSC location decisions indicate that the pace is up for Warsaw as a BSC destination. Reportedly, the city recorded more new BSC jobs during the Q1 2016 – Q1 2017 period than any other Polish city. Interestingly, some of the recent BCS decisions for Warsaw stem from companies that already had like operations elsewhere in Poland.
